Are you passionate about something? Chances are, there’s a tribe for that. Question is, how do you find that tribe? The answer could be Meetup.
If you aren’t familiar with it, here’s how the Meetup website describes itself:
Meetup brings people together in thousands of cities to do more of what they want to do in life. It is organized around one simple idea: when we get together and do the things that matter to us, we’re at our best. And that’s what Meetup does. It brings people together to do, explore, teach and learn the things that help them come alive.
If you’ve never checked it out, there are Meetups for just about every interest out there. I just clicked the Explore link on their site and saw Meetups for:
- Entrepreneurs (Real Life Shark Tank)
- Local Makerspace tour
- Speaker Co-op skill building
- Gay professionals
- Video Marketing World Conference – hosted by my buddy Jeremy Vest
- No-code, low-code developers
- Studio photography
- Singles and other social groups
- Romance writers
I discovered Meetup years ago and it has changed my life. I’m not exaggerating at all.
Through Meetups, I met Gary Leland, Tony Cecala, and many other significant people in my life. Gary and I even host a local group called Podcast Dallas.
If it weren’t for Meetups, I wouldn’t be a podcaster. I’d probably be spending most of my evenings at home watching Netflix.
A Meetup might be the next place you start your next big adventure.
